We do accept Guest Posts, but they need to be detailed and substantial and in keeping with the other content on this site. So the standard must be up to the level of articles like this or this or it will not be published.
If you would like to write an article for us please submit a few ideas for an article – do not submit an article at this stage, just a possible title and a sentence or two to explain what will be in there.
We much prefer in depth pieces on a single topic from an expert, over lightweight pieces with only surface detail. For example we had someone from a cleaning firm go into a lot of depth on how to clean dog poop from your carpet.
If we like them we will give you the thumbs up, possibly with a few revisions.
Once we receive the article from you, it will go through our usual editing process, so this may require revisions.
Please note this website is run part-time so there may be some delay in responses as weekends are often when I catch up on the site.
We don’t put any requirements for length per se, we would mauch rather have a good, shorter article, than a long, waffly one. However we do like detail, so most articles on this site are over 1500 words.
Do not worry too much about an introduction or summary, we can add these to fit with the style of the site.
It should be well researched, with links to credible information sources, not just Wikipedia or PetMD – preferably links to the original research or academic article.
The article should use British English spelling and punctuation.
It should be tightly written, using active voice where possible. Each word and each sentence should add value – refer to The Economist Writing Style Guide for more detail
Keep sentences and paragraphs short and to the point – typically a paragraph is no more than 3 sentences.
Use sub-headings down to heading 3 level.
Please submit as either a .docx or a Google Doc
Please include appropriate images if possible (although this is not a deal breaker) – if these are not your own images, do make sure you have the rights to let us use these too!
We are happy for you to have an “about the author” section in the article where you can tell people about your expertise on the subject matter, or to publish it anonymously
By Submitting You Are Agreeing To…
We may request revisions as part of the editorial process.
We reserve the right not to publish any article we receive – we will let you know why we do not want to publish and what you need to do to make it acceptable to us.
If we accept your article, we may edit it and may potentially remove links to URLs we do not feel are appropriate for any reason eg a non-relevant section of an article or a link to a URL we feel is not high-quality.
If we do accept your article and publish it, you agree that DoggyPages.co.uk will become the owner of that content and that the content has not, and will not, be published elsewhere (online or off) and you
You also agree that you are the owner of, or have permission to allow us to publish, the content, including any associated images, videos etc you include with the article.
If you agree to all of the above, rememberplease don’t send us an article at this point, just let us know you want to write a post and send us through your idea for the post – what it will contain etc. via the form below
